Through this first exhibition held under the Patronage of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, Museo Butti | Contemporanea in Viggiù aims to reopen the dialogue with the renowned Milanese institution, reaffirming a collaboration that has shaped and characterized its history since the museum’s founding.
Numerous exhibitions, curated by founder Gottardo Ortelli, featured prominent artists and critics, professors at the Academy, who helped ensure that Museo Butti played an active role in the contemporary art dialogue through significant contributions.
The exhibition Dialogues arises from an initial educational project with exhibition aims, marking the official reactivation of this collaboration—which, in fact, had never truly ceased. The School of Painting, known for the diversity of its research, has once again been invited to move beyond the Academy’s walls to engage with a historic artistic institution.
For the students invited to exhibit—enrolled respectively in the Drawing course led by Professor Daniela Moro, the Painting course of Professor Arcangelo Esposito, and the Painting Techniques course of Professor Tetsuro Shimizu—this project became an opportunity to put into practice the research begun during their studies, culminating in an exhibition at the new Museo Butti | Contemporanea venue. The works were conceived as site-specific interventions, capable of combining key themes of contemporary art with local culture and artistic tradition.
On display: the installation Untitled by Daria Mikhailova; the paintings Duomo by Mirella Jaworska, Loafe with me on the grass by Giovanni Pasini, Fantàsia by Davide Saibene, Sacred Landscape by Pietro Tombini, and Human Instruments by Edoardo Viganò; the artist books Synesthesias by Angelica Alessio and Skin by Martina Bontempi; the drawings of Paolo Alfiero Ferrero Caia; and the graphic works Mountain Stone and Mountain Spring by Jingwen Luo.
